UPAKOVKA / UPAK ITALIA 2010

18th International Trade Fair Packaging Machinery, Packaging Production and Packaging Material

26 - 29 January 2010
Moscow, Russia

Venue: SAO Expocentr in Krasnaya Presnya

What are the prospects?

In total: growth

Even during a global economic crisis Russia continues to be an attractive and expanding economic region. Experts reckon that this gigantic eastern country will have developed into one of the world's biggest consumer markets by 2025. The current downturn can therefore only be interpreted as an interlude. Investments continue to be on the agenda for Russia's industry, and indeed not just in order to catch up with the quality standards of the western industrial nations.

Wages and salaries are continuing to grow faster than inflation. This is another reason why, for quite a while now, Russia's industry has been interested in far more than the fundamental modernisation of outmoded machinery. In fact it is now focusing increasingly on boosting productivity and on closing the gap with its international competitors. A new market segment for mechanical engineering suppliers has therefore been growing in Russia, offering high-performance facilities that allow faster production at better prices. It is a development that has created a demand for high tech of the greatest quality.

The packaging industry is very much in the forefront of sectors with an interest in sound investments. After all, during a crisis, domestic producers of food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals automatically benefit from higher prices for foreign consumer goods. Last year the Russian government announced that companies in the food industry would be supported in their expansion in the domestic market. This is a positive signal for future investment activities.

It's good to be seen!

So the ground has been prepared for the next leading international trade fair in innovative packaging technologies and machinery in Russia - UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA, which will open its gates in Moscow again from 26 to 29 January 2010.

The last show, which attracted over 20,000 visitors from all regions in the CIS and from neighbouring, was held at the same time as INTERPLASTICA 2009, the international trade fair for plastics and rubber. The approx. 900 exhibitors at the two fairs were very pleased with the high level of decision-making powers of their visitors, so that they could return home with positive results for the follow-up business. Many said they were interested in being present again at this important industry show next year, despite the current crisis.
